Planning a good trip is mostly work — and not the enjoyable kind. It is the twenty-open-tabs kind. Which town to base yourself in. Whether that drive really is only two hours. Whether the place with fourteen hundred reviews is somewhere you actually want to wake up.
Booking sites are very good at showing you what is available. They are not good at knowing you. No filter can work out that travelling with a four-year-old means a pool matters more than a view, that three nights in one town will feel better than two nights in two, or that you would happily drive an extra hour for somewhere with a garden and no lift music.
So we do it the older way. We ask.
It starts with a conversation
Where you are going, when, who is coming, and what the trip is really for — a rest, an anniversary, three days of skiing, the first holiday since the children arrived. Not a form with twenty fields. A handful of questions at a time, answered whenever suits you.
From that we write you an itinerary: where to base yourself and for how long, what each day might hold, and how the whole thing fits together. It is paced for the people actually going rather than packed to fill the time, because a day with one good thing in it beats a day with four and a drive between each. If something is not right, you say so, and we change it. That part is expected, not a complaint.
Then we go and find where you will stay
This is where most of the work happens, and it is the part you never see. We look for independent, owner-run places with some character to them — the small hotel with twelve rooms and a proprietor who knows the town, rather than whatever the algorithm decided to put at the top today.
What we are after is the one that genuinely fits: the right sort of place, in the right part of town, within the budget you have set. Get that right and the whole trip loosens. You are not managing anything, not second-guessing the booking, not spending the first evening wishing you had chosen somewhere else — which is rather the point of going away in the first place.
Curated for your taste
Everything we put in front of you is chosen for you in particular — the pace of the days, the towns you base yourself in, the sort of place you sleep at night. Two people asking for the same week in Italy will get two quite different trips, because they are not the same two people.
That is what you notice once you are actually there. Nothing on the itinerary is present because it ranks well or because it suits everybody. It is there because it suits you — which is the difference between a trip you booked and a trip that feels like yours.
Why bother with any of this
Because the difference between a decent trip and one you talk about for years is rarely the budget. It is the small decisions — the right town, the right order, the right number of nights, somewhere to come back to at the end of the day that suits the people you came with.
Those decisions take time and local knowledge, and most of us make them at eleven at night with a browser full of tabs. We would rather make them for you, properly, and have you turn up to a trip that already fits.
Get in touch
Tell us roughly where you are thinking of going and roughly when. That is genuinely enough to start — we will take it from there and come back to you with questions.
We correspond in English and reply the same day where we can.
